Just finished watching The CNN Youtube debates. I really like this format. These were real questions from real people and not what journalist just *thought* real people would be asking.
Anderson Cooper said they were overwhelmed by questions about health care, so they just combined a few videos about it. Obviously that's an issue that's very important that's on most people's minds.
One of the questions was from a lesbian couple asking if the candidates were elected if they would allow that couple to get married. Kucinich was the only one who said yes. The others who were given the time to answer said they would favor civil unions with the same rights under the law. To me, that goes back to "separate but equal" which was found to be wrong in
Brown vs. the Board of Education (Which was removed recently but that's a whole other issue I'm ticked about).
Hillary and Obama got waaay too much time on the air. Mike Gravell rightfully pointed out that he wasn't getting much time at all. But his core saying should be on everyone's mind in dealing with current political issues, "Follow the money."
I really liked Richardson's idea of a portable 401K that would follow the person when they changed careers.
Kucinich (who actually got some airtime in this debate) is still the candidate who matches my personal experiences, philosophies, and thoughts the best. My devilgirl said he'd never win, no matter how correct he's been about the issues for years. Because he's short and ugly. But mainly because he's short. Because he's not marketable. And that right there is the problem. Our national system of politics should not be based on who is the most marketable, because then it becomes about who has the most money.
Right now, Obama does. The few things I dislike about Obama are also the ones that give him a really good shot at the presidency. Though, I still think Hillary has a better chance than him. I thought she was my least favorite, until I heard Biden. I respect what he's done in the Senate, but don't think he's make a very good president.
Just my humble opinion.
